Update - 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, June 27 - Lafayette Police will hold a funeral procession Thursday for Corporal Joel Grayson, who was killed in an accident over the weekend. It will start between 11:15 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. Thursday morning from Our Savior's Church on East Broussard Road. It will proceed through the city until it reaches Greenlawn Cemetery in the 2300 block of North University where Grayson will be laid to rest.

The Lafayette Fire Department will have both sides of Coolidge Street blocked for approximately one hour so that the American Flag can be draped over the roadway. Intersection along the route will be temporarily closed as the procession moves through the city. The closures will only be temporary except for the intersection of Coolidge and East University Avenue.

2:16 p.m. Tuesday, June 26 - Services for Lafayette Police Corporal Joel Grayson will be held Thursday.

The law enforcement community, family and friends continue to mourn the Grayson's death after a boating accident took his life this Saturday, June 23.  Visitation for Grayson will be held at Martin and Castille's Southside location Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.  His funeral will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Our Savior's Church in Lafayette. He will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The Comeaux High School graduate went on to get his degree in criminal justice. He served 5 1/2 years with the Lafayette Police Department receiving many awards.
