Garbage Disposal Worker Dies In Accident, Identity Made

A crash between a pick up truck and a garbage disposal truck has become deadly.

Eunice Police say it happened at the 1200 block of East Laurel Avenue when 55-year-old Everett Sonnier of Church Point, the driver of the pickup, allegedly struck the back of the garbage truck owned by Progressive Waste Solutions of Louisiana.

One of the garbage disposal employees, 34-year-old Walter Washington, was pinned between the vehicles and suffered severe injuries, eventually dying from them.

The driver of the pickup also suffered severe injuries as well. Deputy Chief Varden Guillory says Sonnier, is still in the hospital with serious injuries, but once he
recovers he could be facing a vehicular homicide charge.
