Louisiana's Ragin Cajuns now have a new women's basketball coach.

UL Athletic Director Scott Farmer introduced Garry Brodhead as the new coach at a press conference Monday afternoon. Farmer called Brodhead a "tremendous fit" for the program, citing his coaching experience and passion for the university.

Brodhead graduated from UL in 1980. He went on to coach the girls' basketball team at Teurlings Catholic, leading them to a state title in 2002 and taking four trips to the state semi-finals.

Brodhead was also a graduate assistant at UL for the 1994-1995 season.

Most recently, though, he has coached at McNeese State University, where he was an assistant from 2007-2010 and then an associate head coach prior to the 2010-2011 season. In his last two seasons at McNeese, the Cowgirls posted a 52-15 record.

Brodhead will take over the program from Errol Rogers, who resigned last month after five seasons as the Cajuns head coach. Under Rogers, the team finished 38-113.
