Anyone wanting to get a GED, or General Education Development certificate will see some changes starting in January.

The state of Louisiana is changing the test next year.  The GED is an alternative certificate for a high school diploma.

The GED has been offered in Louisiana for the last seven decades, but starting in January a new exam will be offered.

HiSet, a division of Educational Testing Service, will start administering its own test.

One big reason for the change is that GED officials will soon only be offering computer-based tests.
