The Georgia Bulldogs top the very first College Football Playoff rankings which were released on Tuesday night.

Another SEC team, the Alabama Crimson Tide, the top team in the AP top 25 poll, is second in the debut rankings.

Georgia and Alabama, should they both win out, would play in the SEC title game, scheduled for December 2 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Notre Dame is #3 this week, with Clemson, the defending national champions, at #4.

A new College Football Playoff ranking will be released weekly until after the conference championship games, set for Dec. 2. From there, the top four teams will be placed in the playoff semifinal games, which are set for January 1, in the Sugar and Rose bowl games.

The College Football Playoff championship will be January 8 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

5-10 consists of Oklahoma, Ohio State, Penn St., TCU, Wisconsin, and Miami.

The LSU Tigers are #19 in the initial rankings of 2017.
