Gov. John Bel Edwards visits Israel this week to establish economic development connections with the Israeli Government.

The mission began early Sunday morning with Mass at the Church of Holy Sepulchre which contains the site and tomb of Jesus' crucifixion.

Later in the afternoon, Governor Edwards, accompanied by First Lady Donna Edwards, laid a wreath at Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center, as Government business officials honored those who lost their lives during the Holocaust.

Additionally, a briefing was held at a luncheon hosted by the Ministry of foreign affairs for  Government, Edwards, and other top trade officials including Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne and Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Don Pierson to educate them on geopolitical issues.

The events Sunday set the tone for the week’s busy agenda, as Louisiana officials, business leaders and researchers in key industries are scheduled to meet with key Israeli counterparts including Prime Minister Netanyahu, and visit various sites across the country.
