BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Gov. Bobby Jindal has called a special Nov. 6 election for the 5th District seat covering Baton Rouge on the Louisiana Supreme Court being vacated by Chief Justice Kitty Kimball.

If no candidate wins outright, the runoff election would be held Dec. 1. Candidate qualifying will run Aug. 15-17.

Kimball, of Ventress, announced earlier that she would retire after 20 years on the court.

The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/JRloz5 ) her last day on the job will be Jan. 31.
