The budget fight in Louisiana is over for now after the Senate and House both approved HB1. The bill fully funds state priorities including higher education and partner hospitals. The Governor spoke to reporters shortly after the close of the 3rd special session.

The battle between Democrats and Republicans ended with the renewal of .45 of an expiring one penny sales tax. The moves the total state sales tax to 4.45%.

The session ended with a ton of celebration- including Senate Finance Chair Eric LaFleur dancing in the chamber.
