BATON ROUGE—Today, Governor Jindal issued the following statement on the ruling in the state Common Core procedure lawsuit.

Governor Jindal said, "We’re disappointed that the Court did not decide whether the Board of Secondary and Elementary Education followed the Administrative Procedures Act (APA). We support the legislators in their appeal.

"The Administrative Procedures Act ensures that before agencies adopt rules and regulations, they get input from stakeholders and the public. BESE did not follow this public process before adopting Common Core. We are also pursuing legislation to make clear that public agencies must follow the APA before adopting rules and regulations.

"It’s important to note that we are also still fighting Common Core in federal court, where a judge has recently ruled that our case has standing and will be heard. This case challenges Race to the Top and No Child Left Behind waivers that are tied to Common Core."
