Governor Jindal Wants To Raise Age Of Retirement for State Workers
With Louisiana facing budget shortfalls, Governor Jindal is finding ways to save money that some are not happy about. That would include raising retirement age for state workers.
The Democratic Caucus already seems cold to the idea. Representative John Edwards said, "You just don't do that to people, that's unconscionable."
He wants to raise the age to 67 for those not yet 55 because of the $18.5 billion shortage and the need to pay for future benefits.
Representative Edwards says there are other ways of reigning in costs.
