Update: Both Green T. Lindon Elementary and Youngsville Middle School have been taken off of lockdown. However, authorities are still looking for Ashley Perkins.

Deputies will remain on both campuses through the remainder of the school day.

Perkins was wanted by Abbeville Police for traffic charges, and was a suspect in another traffic incident that occurred in the Lafayette City Limits.  She escaped from the police while still handcuffed wearing a green shirt and grey sweat pants.

25-year-old Ashley Perkins has escaped from the Youngsville Police Department, causing both Green T. Lindon Elementary and Youngsville Middle School to both be put under lockdown.

Captain Kip Judice with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office says Perkins had been picked up on open warrants and was being held at the police station for processing when she ran out the station. The station is in the immediate vicinity of the two schools. Youngsville Police and Sheriff's Deputies are currently looking for Perkins, who was picked up on non-violent crimes.

We will keep you updated as information comes in.
