LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL) -- Greg Stewart will not return as the defensive coordinator for the Louisiana football team in 2013.

The Ragin' Cajuns athletic department announced Wednesday afternoon that a search for Stewart's replacement is underway.

“I would like to thank Greg for the contributions that he has made to help the Ragin’ Cajuns win 18 games including a pair of New Orleans Bowl titles over the last two years,” head football coach Mark Hudspeth said. “His hard work and dedication helped make these things possible.”

"I have decided to go a different direction (professionally) and I am looking forward to the future opportunities for both me and my family," Steward said.

Stewart joined the Cajuns staff in 2011 shortly after Hudspeth was hired as head coach. He was previously an assistant coach at Jacksonville State for 18 seasons and as defensive coordinator at Delta State for two seasons.
