Group Recommends Continuing With Current Insurance Provider For Lafayette School Board

The employee insurance advisory committee of the Lafayette Parish School Board has made a recommendation that they drop the idea of having a new search for health insurance program administrator for this year.

The committee is recommending that the Lafayette School Board work on strengthening their current plan with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana.

The committee's recommendation will be presented to the school board during their meeting on February 19th.

The selection process last year left many people with complaints that the process was not transparent.  The board decided last year to hire their own consultant to oversee the entire insurance selection process.  The usual practice was to let the committee to debate the different proposals.

The district has had the same administrator, Blue Cross Blue Shield, for the last 17 years.
