HARVEY, La. (AP) — Authorities say two teenagers are back in custody in Jefferson Parish. They had escaped the Rivarde Juvenile Detention Center after a guard was severely beaten.

NOLA.com-The Times-Picayune reports the boys are 14 and 16.

Col. John Fortunato, spokesman for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, says the guard entered the younger boy's cell to remove a food tray Wednesday, and the boy punched the guard in the head and face.

He says the guard fell and the youth got out and released the older boy. Fortunato says the boys dragged the guard to a shower room, stole his keys and wallet and escaped.

The 16-year-old was caught quickly, and the younger boy was arrested Thursday in New Orleans.

The guard was treated for cuts and bruises.
