LULING, La. (AP) — State transportation officials say the Hale Boggs Bridge in Luling will be closed in both directions beginning Friday at 7 p.m.

The northbound lanes will reopen by noon on June 10 and southbound lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12.

The full closure is needed to remove equipment from the top of the bridge pier on the West Bank side. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development says the expansion joint in the southbound lanes will also be removed and replaced.

Motorists can expect heavy delays on the Huey P. Long Bridge in Jefferson Parish due to the extra traffic that will be detoured from the Luling Bridge.

Officials say motorists can access up-to-date travel information by dialing 511 or online at www.511la.org .
