Hang Up Call Leads To The Arrest Of Two St. Mary Parish Men
St. Mary Parish Sheriff's deputies went to investigate a possible disturbance after a report of a call to 911 where someone hung up.
They went out to the 400 block of Verdun Lane in Verdunville to find a man forcing another guy into a home, while a third man fled on foot.
Deputies ordered both men out of the home, and they come out where they were detained.
Detectives believe that 19-year-old Demarcus McNeal and 24-year-old Courtland Francois ducted taped a male victim, drug him across the ground and held him at gunpoint.
Investigators say McNeal, Francois and the victim all knew each other.
McNeal was arrested on several charges including:
- False imprisonment (while armed with a dangerous weapon)
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
- Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance
- Simple battery
- Aggravated assault
- Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute
Francois was arrested on the following charges:
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Possession of synthetic cnnabinoids with intent to distribute
- Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance
Detectives say the investigation is ongoing.
