Harboring A Sex Offender Lands Opelousas Woman In Jail
The sister of a convicted sex offender is in trouble with authorities. This after Sheriff Bobby Guidroz with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office was looking for Jerrel Keith Sonnier after finding out that he was not staying at his reported residence.
On Wednesday, agents for the State Probation and Parole Office arrived at his sister's house in Opelousas after getting a tip that he was there. Sonnier was seen running away from the home and avoided capture by police. His sister, Meghan Simms, was arrested by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's office on the charge of concealing a sex offender. She was also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, after further investigation by police.
A warrant has been out to arrest Sonnier since July 27th by the Louisiana Probation and Parole office.
