WEST MONROE, La. (AP) — West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce President Paul Hargrove has resigned after less than a year on the job.

Hargrove, whose resignation was immediate, tells The News-Star (http://tnsne.ws/ItUv6o ) on Wednesday he left to pursue a private business opportunity in the technology sector that was too good to pass up.

His departure reduces the chamber's professional staff to one, membership director Deanna Buchanan. Former office manager Cindy Thompson recently resigned as well.

Volunteer Chairman Billy Hance said he has set an aggressive time line for hiring a new president.

Hance said he will spend more time at the chamber office in West Monroe until Hargrove's replacement is hired.
