Hearing Delayed For Dad Accused Of Beheading Son, Jori Lirette

THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — A hearing to determine the mental competency of a man charged with first-degree murder in the killing and beheading of his son has been rescheduled.

The Daily Comet reports 31-year-old Jeremiah Wright's hearing was originally set for Sept. 21. It was later reset for November; and attorneys now have agreed on a Jan. 3 date.

Wright is charged in the death last year of 7-year-old Jori Lirette.

Wright remains in the Lafourche Parish jail. His bond was set at $5 million.
