So many kids have been working hard at football practice or band practice, and the worry for parents continues. Parents and children are being reminded as they are starting to head back to classes and working so hard at parctice, that heat-related illnessess can be deadly.

Coaches, parents and caregivers are being advised to make sure kids are monitored when out in excessive heat to stay hydrated. Three deaths across the country related to heat and sports are sending reminders to athletic coordinators to to pay enough attention to anyone practicing in the severe heat.

"The guidelines recommend coaches provide athletes with sufficient rest, at least two hours between major events for practices and on game days. They also say a trained staffer should be on hand to keep an eye out for any student-athletes showing signs of heat sickness. The revised guidelines are published in their entirety in the journal "Pediatrics.""
