An early morning attempt to get away from La. State Troopers has landed 22-year-old Fabian D. Adams of Lake Charles in jail on a slew of charges.

LSP spokesman Sgt. James Anderson says it began around 8:00 a.m. when Lake Charles Police tried to conduct a traffic stop on Adams' vehicle. Anderson says Adams then led officers and eventually troopers on a 50-mile chase through Calcasieu and Cameron Parishes, with speeds at times exceeding 130 miles per hour. The chase came to a quick end when Adams lost control of the vehicle on La. Highway 82 and ran into a ditch.

Adams was booked into the Cameron Parish Jail on charges of reckless operation of a motor vehicle, aggravated flight from an officer, driving under suspension, possession of marijuana, expired motor vehicle inspection, and altered dealer tag. He'll face additional charges from La. State Police Troopers in Calcasieu Parish, where he'll be transferred to, as well.
