A Lafayette man is behind bars after barricading himself inside a home Saturday.

LPD spokesperson Cpl. Bridgette Dugas reported officers responded to a home invasion call around 12 p.m. yesterday on Benton Drive in Lafayette.

Once police arrived, Chaisson fled the location and barricaded himself inside a low-income housing unit in the 200 block of Chaisson Circle.

Dugas said, after several hours of negotiation the suspect was apprehended without incident.

Chaisson was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation, then booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for home invasion.
