Honoré To Speak At UL-Lafayette Commencement

The keynote speaker for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s spring commencement Saturday at the Cajundome will be retired Lt. General Russel Honoré. He will speak to graduates during the General Assembly ceremony.
Honoré was the former commander of Joint Task Force Katrina, leading the U.S. Department of Defense’s response to hurricanes Katrina and Rita in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. He was also a global preparedness expert, serving in a variety of command and staff positions focusing on military support to civil authorities and homeland defense.
After 37 years of active service with the U.S. Army, he retired in 2008.
