Greivis Vasquez had been experiencing a mid-season slump on the Hornets' road trip last week. He snapped out of it Wednesday night at home. The New Orleans point guard scored a game-high 19 (on 8-9 shooting), dished out 12 assists, swiped 4 steals, leading the Hornets to a 93-84 victory over the Phoenix Suns. Perhaps the most important stat for Greivis was zero turnovers, a career-first for Vasquez.

"We played with energy," said Vasquez. "I had a great week of practice, worked really hard, watched a lot of film, and I got myself ready."

New Orleans was reeling from a 4-game losing streak. Wanting to give his team a jolt, head coach Monty Williams put his team through training camp style practices on Monday and Tuesday. It appears to have worked.

In addition to Vasquez's double-double, Al-Farouq Aminu had one as well (16 points, 11 rebounds). Ryan Anderson scored 14, and Robin Lopez added 11.

"One of the primary focuses of the two practices on Monday and Tuesday was just our aggressiveness," Lopez explained. "We want to make sure we went out there and beat up on each other, and it was nice to see some carry-over."

The Hornets now must hit the road again, this time for a 3 game swing. Next up, a Friday visit to Atlanta for a matchup with the Hawks. Tip-off is set for 6:30.
