Horse Farm Opens To Hundreds For Farmers Market Today
The new Lafayette Farmers and Artisan Market opened this Saturday, June 1st at the Horse Farm on Johnston Street. Hundreds showed up to browse through the many tents offering products like homemade pies, pasta and homemade crafts like jewelry and decorations.
It is the first of the on-going weekly events that will happen each Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon with the park remaining open until 2:00 p.m.
There were a variety of venders offering different foods for sale as they promote the farm to market concept of health eating. In addition, several artisans will be featuring their products at the farm as well. The Acadiana Trees organization was also represented today, and they gave out free trees to anyone who was interested in planting trees in their neighborhoods.
If you are interested in volunteering, there are a variety of jobs that you could assist with each Saturday including things like beverage sales, handing out customer surveys and more. You can visit market http://www.marketatthehorsefarm.com.
