Hostage Taker Killed

A standoff in Mamou ended last night with an armed suspect being killed.  

State Police say when officers got inside the home on East Street, they found the woman who was held hostage had been dead for several hours.  Neighbors called police early yesterday morning after Larry Thomas, the armed man, took his wife hostage. Authorities say the gunfire exchange between State Police SWAT members and Thomas happened after Thomas armed himself, forcing State Police to take action.
