Houma Bridge To Close Weekends Until Mid-November

HOUMA, La. (AP) — Some motorists in Houma may have to alter their weekend travel routes for the next few weeks.

The Houma Navigation Canal Bridge will close from 7 p.m. every Friday until 5 a.m. every Monday through November 19.

The Courier reports that the weekend closures are scheduled so crews can build a new bridge operator station, along with other parts of a $9.9 million state project to rehabilitate the swing bridge.

In addition to the weekend closures, the bridge will be closed daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct.15 to 19.
