HOUMA, La. (AP) — Houma police say five Jefferson Parish residents are accused of trying to cash fraudulent checks in several cities under a fake company name.

Police tell the Courier (http://bit.ly/KXzg9A ) that Alicia Caston, Chelsea Jenkins, Anthony Young, Kenyan Lundy and Adam Smith tried cashing checks in Houma, Laplace and Kenner using the name Turner Industries.

They were interviewed by police on Friday and arrested, each on a monetary-instrument abuse charge.

All five are being held in the Terrebonne Parish jail, each on a $50,000 bond.

It could not be determined whether the suspects have attorneys.
