House Majority Leader Cantor Loses Election To Tea Party Challenger
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor will not be Virginia's Republican candidate for congress in their upcoming congressional elections. The most powerful Republican in congress lost his state primary in a shocking upset to Tea Party challenger Dave Brat.
Brat, a Randolph-Macon College economics professor, is a relative political newcomer. Brat entered the race with the promise of being Cantor's "term limit," pledging to fight for "real, conservative, free-market change".
