LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL) -- A Houston man has bonded out of the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center after he somehow managed to get into the cockpit of his United Airlines flight.

The incident took place at about 5:30 a.m. Friday on a flight that originated from the Lafayette Regional Airport, according to Capt. Kip Judice, spokesperson for the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office.

"Apparently [57-year-old Alan Glombicki] boarded the plane at a high intoxicated level," Judice said.

For whatever reason, Glombicki couldn't get into the restroom in the back of the plane, Judice said. He began roaming the plane, Judice said, and somehow managed to open the door to the cockpit.

Flight attendants managed to get him to sit down, but because of his drunken state, Judice said he tripped a flight attendant when his legs extended into the aisle. At that point, deputies were called to remove Glombicki from the plane, Judice said.

Judice could not immediately confirm if the plane had yet to take off or if the incident took place while airborne.
