You may not know it, but you already know what Google Places is.  In fact, you have likely already used it.  Still, if you are in business, you need to know about this handy tool to be able to help get more customers.

Jaci Russo stopped by the Afternoon Drive Home

and talked about this great tool to help your business.  So what is Google Places?  Russo says,

Whenever you go into Google and search for a type of industry...and a location..., what comes up are some business listing and that fancy Google map that has markers with letters of the alphabet and a corresponding list of businesses with addresses and phone numbers.

Russo also mentioned that there is a way to get the information that Google shares with people to be as accurate as possible.  She said that you can fill out the form that Google provides so you can report on yourself, complete with name, address, phone numbers, videos and anything else that would define your business to the public.

Russo said that this is important for any business to put in information, regardless if you are direct retail or some other type of business or organization.  Russo also added that it doesn't take very long.

It should take no more than a couple of minutes.
