Yesterday we learned that the beloved live mascot for the LSU Tigers, Mike VI, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.

Mike was diagnosed with spindle cell sarcoma and will now undergo radiation treatment at Mary Bird Perkins Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center.

Doctors and Veterinarians will work together to get Mike to the facility in the days ahead. During the treatment sessions, the 400-pound animal will receive high levels of radiation in hopes of shrinking the tumor.

LSU Veterinarians recently noticed a mass on Mike's face and they diagnosed the school mascot with cancer. The tumor is said to be about the size of a lemon.

Let's keep our fingers crossed.
