Allied Waste is continuing clean-up of Hurricane Isaac's effect in Lafayette.  Lafayette Consolidated Government's Environmental Manager Mark Pope visited on 'Mornings With Ken and Bernie' today to explain the process.

Pope said a cost saving decision was made to utilize Allied Waste for the clean up instead of hiring outside waste contractors.  According to Pope,

"Monday pick-up continued into Wednesday, Tuesday pick-up continued into Friday and so forth.  To be frank some people are attempting to use this hurricane clean-up as a way to dispose of construction debris and fresh cut trees.  That type of waste will not be picked up and people will have to hire someone to pick up and dispose of these materials."
