Husband Accidentally Runs Over Wife With Car In Abbeville

What's been ruled a tragic accident leaves a man without his wife.

According to our news partners at KATC, the tragedy happened on Sunday around 3:30 pm. Abbeville Police Chief Tony Hardy says it happened while the man was backing into his driveway of his home on Maude Avenue. A witness says, after he dropped his wife off in the driveway, he then accidentally put his car into reverse, and not seeing his wife, hit her with the vehicle. The man told police he then got out of the vehicle after he hit a fence near his residence and noticed his wife under the vehicle.

Chief Hardy says no charges are pending against the husband so the identities of the couple are not being released. No signs of alcohol or foul play are suspected at this time, but the investigation is still ongoing.
