I-10 Crash Kills One

Westbound lanes of I-10 were closed for about four hours last night after a crash that killed one person and six others being rescued from the Atchafalya Swamp.

According to witnesses the car flipped on the road before crashing over the bridge railing near mile marker 132 at Ramah in Iberville Parish. Two adults and five children were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Of the six people rescued one was taken by Air Med to a hospital and the other five were transported by ambulance. One person was pronounced dead at the scene.

No identities of those have been released. State police are investigating the crash.
