As 2018 begins, the 7.11-mile I-10 Widening Project covering Lafayette and St. Martin Parishes continues its progress. It began in May 2017 and is estimated to be complete in Fall 2019.

There are 3 specific projects which will happen from Thursday, January 4 until Tuesday, January 9. Each of them involve Moss Street.

  • The northbound and southbound left lanes of Moss Street at I-10 will be closed for the demolition of the concrete bridge rail from Thursday, January 4 unitl Wednesday, January 10. This will happen nightly from 8 PM until 6 AM, weather permitting. Detour Southbound: Use East Gloria Switch Road to US 167 to East Simcoe Street then back to Moss Street. Detour Northbound: Reversed for the other direction. Local traffic will be able to use East Pont Des Mouton Road and Castille Avenue.
  • The eastbound and westbound left lanes of I-10 from the Vermilion River Bridge to Moss Street and North University to LA 176 will be closed for the demolition of the concrete bridge rail. This will happen nightly from 8 PM until 6 AM, weather permitting.
  • There will be apprximately 15-minute intermittent lane closures of the eastbound and westbound left lanes of I-10 from the Vermilion River Bridge to Moss Street for the removal of signs. This will happen nightly from 8 PM until 6 AM, weather permitting.
