‘I Dream Of Jeannie’ Turns 85 [Video]
Happy birthday, Jeannie! Barbara Eden turns 85 years old today (August 23rd). When I was a small boy, she gained widespread fame in the classic '60s sitcom "I Dream of Jeannie." She played a beautiful, quirky genie who befriends astronaut Tony Nelson, stranded on a desert island. Nelson was portrayed by Larry Hagman who'd go on to star in the long running tv drama "Dallas." Hagman died of cancer while a revival of the show's second season was in production.
She was born Barbara Jean Morehead August 23rd, 1931. Barbara sang in her church choir as a teenager. She sang at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and competed in the Miss California Competition. Her list of TV & film credits is lengthy. I'll always remember Barbara as that beautiful blonde in a pink outfit who appeared in a puff of smoke out of an ornate bottle. Happy birthday, Jeannie!
