Tuesday night while driving through downtown Lafayette I saw the true meaning of Christmas.

My Tuesday evening routine is to always drop Mason off at religion class at 6 pm and then I have to find something to do for an hour. Well, this week I elected to get an overpriced coffee and drive around while looking at Christmas lights.

On this Tuesday evening, I decided to randomly drive through downtown Lafayette for some reason. While making my way around Parc San Souci, near the parking garage, something caught my eye on the small stage in the park.

I saw three individuals feeding homeless people on a cold south Louisiana night. They had a table set up, with a tablecloth, and a huge black pot on it.

I saw them putting food on plates and handing them to those waiting for a warm meal. I drove around the park three times just to see their generosity.

I don't know if these people were with a church or organization, but that didn't matter. All that I know is that they were doing the right thing.

After my third time driving around the block I convinced myself to stop and talk to these people, but by then they were packing up for the night.

With everything going on in our community and in our country for that matter, it was GREAT to see people doing the right thing. It reminded me of what the true meaning of Christmas is.

Again, I don't know why I drove through downtown Lafayette on an "off night," but I'm glad I did. I would like to think that it was a gift for me---to see what I saw.

Please share this story with your friends on social media in hopes that the people who were feeding the homeless see this. I just want them to know that their generosity did not go unnoticed.

Thank You!!!
