Iberia deputies have arrested Brett Philips for armed robbery as well as failure to notify officials of his address change as he is a sex offender.

Investigators with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office Bureau of Investigations Division along with detectives from the Sex Crimes Division responded to a complaint about an armed robbery in the 1300 block of West St. Peter Street.

Witnesses told deputies that Philips held his grandmother at gun point, demanding money.  The grandmother then gave Philips an undisclosed amount of money.  He then threatened her life.

Deputies were able to find Philips at a home off of Lake Tasse Drive, and he was taken into custody.

He was taken to the Iberia Parish Jail and is being charged with armed robbery and failure to notify officials of his temporary change of address.  Deputies say the investigation remains open at this time.
