Iberia Deputies Search For Alleged Purse Snatcher

Investigators with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office are asking residents to help locate a suspect wanted for a purse snatching that occurred yesterday.

Sheriff's Spokesperson Maj. Ryan Turner said Lamont Rankin of New Iberia allegedly approached a woman who was seated in her car near the 900 block of Mississippi Street in New Iberia yesterday afternoon.

According to the victim, the suspect began to strike her before taking her purse from inside the vehicle.

Deputies are asking if anyone has information on Rankin's location to contact the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office at (337) 369-3711.
