Iberia Deputies Searching For Shooting Suspect

Iberia Parish Sheriff's investigators are trying to determine what happened to a man who was found shot on New Iberia's West side.

Sheriff's spokesman Capt. Wendell Raborn reported at approximatelt 10:30 p.m. Friday an unidentified black male was found with gunshot wounds in a vehicle after he crashed into a utility pole on St. Mary Street.

The victim died just before paramedics arrived. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are treating the case as a homicide, Raborn said.
