NEW IBERIA, La. (KPEL) -- The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office has developed a person of interest in connection with a Sunday shooting that narrowly avoided the victim's head.

According to Sheriff Louis Ackal, the victim told deputies he was parked near a convenience store at Hopkins Street and Lombard Street and was trying to leave the area when a man on a bicycle stopped in front of him and blocked him from driving off.

The suspect on the bicycle than pulled out a handgun and fired at the victim, Ackal said. One of the gunshots grazed the left side of the victim's head, Ackal said.

Police are looking for a black male suspect, Ackal said. If you have any information that could help investigators, you're urged to call the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office at 369-3711.
