Iberia Parish Man Calls Police On His Own Burglary

24-year-old Heath Bonin is in the Iberia Parish Jail after calling police to report his own burglary attempt. But he wasn't telling on himself, he was allegedly trying to trick police.

Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal says deputies got a call Tuesday, allegedly from the suspect, that two males armed with firearms were robbing his neighbor's home in the 1400 block of Oubre Lane and were getting away. Of course, deputies searched the area and couldn't find the robbers, later determining that the caller, Heath Bonin, was the alleged robber.

Bonin has been charged with simple burglary and criminal mischief.
