Stepmother Identified In Iberia Parish Stabbing Death

UPDATE: 34-year-old Lolita Bailey has been identified as the stepmother that was stabbed to death, allegedly by her 13-year-old stepson. The teen has been charged with second-degree murder in the case.

Around 6:30 p.m. Iberia Parish Sheriff's deputies were called out to the 4100 block of Loreauville highway where they found a 34-year-old woman had been stabbed to death.  A 13-year-old male was taken into custody, and Captain Ryan Turner says they believe the boy, the woman's step son, is the suspect responsible for the homicide.

Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal says that the woman had been stabbed multiple times while inside of her home.  The 13-year-old male also lives in that home.

Deputies say that the woman was pronounced dead by the Iberia Parish Cororner's Office.

Turner says the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit conducted an investigation of the crime scene, and detectives will continue to try to determine all the details of the case.  He says any additional information about charges will be released when the are available.
