State Police say an impaired driver caused a crash which led to two other crashes and a pedestrian being struck and killed on Interstate 10 in Jeff Davis Parish early Sunday.

According to our news partner, KATC, troopers reported the impaired driver struck a pickup truck towing another vehicle and drove away.

Then, another vehicle struck the vehicle being towed. As a driver approached the scene of the crash, he merged into the right lane and struck a pedestrian standing in the roadway.

The pedestrian--29-year-old Alvaro Badillo Resendiz of North Carolina--was pronounced dead at the scene.

Luis Enrique Astorga, 22, of Texas was later found and arrested for driving while intoxicated when they discovered paint evidence on  Astroga's vehicle from the pickup in the initial crash.
