MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (AP) — State police in Indiana say semitrailers and other vehicles are still being cleared from yesterday's massive pileup that killed three people and injured more than 20.

State police are blaming snow and whiteout conditions for the pileup that involved more than 40 vehicles and left motorists at a standstill for several hours on eastbound Interstate 94 near Michigan City.

Police say it could be several hours before the stretch of road is reopened.
