FRANKLINTON, La. (AP) — Washington Parish deputies have caught an inmate who allegedly slipped out of shackles and jumped from a sheriff's vehicle after a hospital visit.

Mike Haley of the sheriff's office tells WDSU-TV that 39-year-old Kaunda Lopaz Magee was found Sunday in a drainage pipe near Franklinton.

He says Magee was still handcuffed, but had gotten out of a waist chain.

Magee escaped about 2:30 a.m. Saturday. Authorities say he'd been taken to a Franklinton hospital after complaining of severe shoulder pain Friday night.

He's being held on $305,500 bond while awaiting trial on charges of aggravated rape, auto theft, driving under suspension and failure to appear in court.

An escape in 2011 lasted three weeks, much of it in Pike County, Mississippi. That time, he was caught in Osyka.
