Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the news that insurance rates for most drivers in the state could soon be dropping.

Donelon tells KEEL listeners about the approval of the rate cut requested by State Farm Insurance. The company, Louisiana's largest auto insurer, has now asked for - and been granted - three reductions in the past nine months. Donelon adds that rate reductions for drivers with other companies may be coming as they adjust their prices to remain competitive.

Donelon explains how more than one million policyholders in Louisiana will see a decrease of more than three percent, a change that will go into effect in April. This further reduction is on top of a near three percent decrease for State Farm coverage that kicked in last summer and an almost two percent decrease that began last September.
