The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development says they now have an interim traffic camera solution for their website, www.511la.org, due to their vendor losing their ability to provide the service.

Since losing their vendor service, DOTD was able to provide some still photos for about one-third of the 400 cameras across the state.  Now DOTD says they be able to provide pictures from 90 percent of the cameras.  Images will no longer update automatically, and users will need to refresh their screen to get the latest updates.

This change will be in place until June when DOTD will be able to upgrade to provide live streaming for all traffic cameras.

You can get traffic information by visiting the 511 Traveler Information Web site at www.511la.org.

Also, motorists can get the "Way to Geaux" application for around-the-clock travel alerts.  It's hands-free, eyes-free smartphone application that can be downloaded on any iPhone or Android device by visiting the iTunes App Store, or Google Play.
