UPDATE 4:00 p.m. -- DOTD says they will try to reopen the left lane of I-10 at some point tonight between 6 and 7. They warn traffic will be extremely suggested, so they still suggest Highway 190 as a detour route.

10:00 a.m. -- State Police say it could be tomorrow morning before Interstate 10 in between Lafayette and Baton Rouge is re-opened.

Trooper Stephen Hammons says at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday, two 18-wheelers, one of which was carrying drilling mud, crashed on the interstate near the Henderson exit at mile marker 116, near the foot of the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge. The mud caught on fire, Hammons says.

Police hope to get at least one lane open at some point tonight, Hammons says, but for the time being, traffic is being redirected to U.S. 190.
